How to Choose a Home Repairs Contractor

These are a few guidelines to help you determine how to choose a reputable home repairs contractor:
  • Find out if they are a licensed contractor with the Arizona Registrar of Contractors (ROC) and check that:
    • Their license is current at the time of service.
    • There are no disciplined complaints with the Arizona Registrar of Contractors.
    • They are appropriately licensed to perform the type of work you contracted. The ROC has many classification and awards licenses based on the contractor's relative experience in their field.
    • Their bond on file with the ROC is active. This ensures a certain degree of financial responsibility in the case of contractor work issues as deemed by the ROC arbitration and hearings process.

  • Check with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) that:
    • They do not have a low grade score with the local BBB chapter

  • Can your contractor provide at least three solid references from other clients?
In addition to meeting high ROC and BBB standards, all ELA Home Repairs contractors meet the following requirements:
  • Industry-trained
  • Regularly monitored
  • Commit to a signed Pledge of Performance
  • Carry current public liability insurance
  • Carry Workers' Compensation insurance certificate (when applicable)
  • Participate in ongoing education (as required by applicable Council)
  • Current Arizona retail sales tax privilege license (if applicable)
